2. Sixth Form
Students in the Sixth Form at King Henry VIII are not required to wear school uniform, unlike younger pupils in Years 7 –11. However, it is extremely important that Sixth Form students understand that the way they dress must be appropriate for both lessons and more formal school occasions. As a general rule, students' appearance should be smart with the effect of coming ready to work for the day. Indeed, clothes should be of a colour, cut and material suitable for an office environment. The following is not to be deemed acceptable:
- Torn or dirty clothes
- Skimpy tops – not low cut and no bare midriffs
- No visible underwear
- No mini-skirts
- Shorts (except tailored)
- Clothes bearing offensive slogans
3. Equipment
Pupils should arrive at lessons appropriately equipped i.e. exercise book & texts, homework planner, pen, pencil, ruler, rubber, all carried in a suitable school bag.
4. Classroom Expectations

5. Movement around the School
All pupils should follow the instructions below when moving around the school.
- Walk on the left
- Behave sensibly
- Respect school property
- Follow the one way system
- Queue in single file
6. Eating Areas
Pupils are not allowed to eat food and drink from cans etc in teaching rooms or corridors. Eating / drinking should be confined to dining rooms and areas outside the school.The exception to this rule involves drinking water. If pupils attend lessons with bottles of drinking water, they are allowed to have the bottles on their desk but are only allowed to drink them during the lesson with the teacher's permission.
When outside areas are used for eating / drinking purposes, pupils should always place any litter in the various bins, located around the school.
During lunchtime activities, pupils need to have time to take their lunch in the dining hall prior to / after attending the activity. If pupils need to be served at the beginning of the lunch hour, a teacher should provide them with a note or pass to this effect.
Pupils are not permitted to use the Leisure Centre vending machines.
In inclement weather pupils may be allowed to eat within classrooms. When this occurs, pupils will be supervised.
7. Wet Weather
During wet weather pupils who wish to shelter from the rain by remaining inside the building should not report to their form rooms. Instead they should report initially to either dining hall. Additionally, staff on duty will direct them to a limited number of designated wet rooms located alongside the maths and humanities corridors (main school) or occasionally the school hall (upper school). Wet room areas are as follows:
- Y7 - Humanities rooms on lower corridor. Enter via Music doors.
- Y8&9 - Main dining room area plus designated rooms along mathematics corridor.
- Y10 - Upper school hall plus designated rooms on level 5 in upper school.
- Y11 - Upper school canteen.
8. Lunch Time Arrangements
It is school policy that Years 7-11 remain on site during the school day (including lunchtime and break time).
9. Areas within the school grounds, which are out of bounds to pupils during the school day
- All road ways
- All car parks, except busbays.
- Banking areas adjacent to the school drive and MUGA.
- Wooded area above Astro surface
- Wooded area between the stream and cemetery
- Playing in the stream is prohibited.
10. Lateness
Staff are advised to take the school register at the beginning of the registration period. If a pupil arrives after the register has been taken, that pupil is to be issued with a late mark.
Pupils who accrue 3 late marks automatically qualify for a detention (30 minutes) with the Head of Year.
