The School Promises
To provide suitable, well-taught lessons
- Discussing work and setting targets for improvement
- Promoting equal opportunities for differing needs and abilities
- Setting and marking homework regularly
- Rewarding hard work, achievement, good attendance and punctuality
- Providing opportunities for a wide variety of extra-curricular activities.
To provide an environment of care, order, purposefulness and pleasure in learning:
- Giving advice, guidance and counselling
- Requiring a high standard of behaviour from each member of our community
- Requiring everyone to help identify and prevent bullying
- Provide, within our means, a pleasant and comfortable physical environment in which to work.
To run effectively and smoothly:
- Providing information when needs arise
- Offering prompt appointments and regular parents' evenings to discuss progress
- Encouraging a high stand of dress with a strong uniform policy
- Informing parents regularly of our activities.
The Parent Promises:
To expect and encourage good work:
- Taking an active interest in the work done in school and at home
- Rewarding and praising achievement and effort
- Reading and signing the planner regularly
- Encouraging involvement in school teams, clubs and other extra-curricular activities
- Attending parents' evenings whenever possible, to discuss progress with teachers and tutor.
To support the school's requirements for a high standard of behaviour:
- Supporting the school's behaviour policies
- Promoting the school's efforts to prevent bullying
- Encouraging a sense of pride in the school's environment and appearance
- Providing a suitable, quiet place for homework to be done.
To help the school run efficiently and smoothly:
- Ensuring regular, punctual attendance, except in cases of illness, when a telephone call will be made to the school or a note will be provided on the first day of an absence
- Ensuring full uniform is worn each day
- Contacting the school when help is needed
- Supporting school activities whenever possible.
The Student Promises
To work to the best of his/her ability:
- Concentrating on the task in hand
- Discussing work with teachers, parents and tutor, and considering their advice carefully
- Setting targets for improvement
- Recording homework in the planner, then completing it promptly and as well as possible
- Becoming involved, where possible, in teams, clubs and other extra-curricular activities.
To behave sensibly and sensitively to others:
- Treating then with consideration, courtesy and respect
- Refusing to take part in any bullying, physically or verbally, or any other aggressive behaviour
- Looking after personal property and respecting the property of others,
- Doing whatever possible to help the school look neat and attractive, never causing any litter
- Recognising that the need to behave responsibly includes the journey to and from school
- Actively promoting the image of the school by good behaviour in the community.
To help the school run efficiently and smoothly:
- Attending school punctually every day except when ill, then bringing a note to the tutor
- Wearing school uniform each day
- Having all necessary equipment for each lesson
- Ensuring parents are informed of school activities.
